Police detectives, bomb unit begin investigations into bomb explosion that killed 5 children in Katsina State

The Police Command in Katsina State has confirmed that detectives from the Police Explosive Ordinance (EOD) Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) have launched investigations into the Saturday suspected bomb explosion that killed five children at a farm in Yammama village, Malumfashi Local Government area of the State.

Already, the scene of them bomb blast had been preserved to enable the detectives from Police EOD and CID to do their jobs unhindered.

The State Command Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, said in a statement that six other children were also injured in the blast which occurred at about 11:30 am on Saturday.

According to the statement, “DPO Malumfashi reported that a loud sound was heard inside the farm of one Alhaji Hussaini Maikwai. On receipt of the information, the DPO led Operation Puff Adder to the scene.

“The explosion killed five children that belonged to one Alhaji Adamu of Yammama village in Malumfashi local government area. It also injured six other children, who were sitting under the tree inside the farm.”

The Police Spokesperson added that the children went to the farm to cut grass for the family’s livestock and those  injured have been taken to Malumfashi General Hospital for medical attention.
