Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases now 37,801 with 576 new infections Tuesday

Nigeria recorded 576 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Tuesday, bringing the number of confirmed cases of the highly infectious respiratory disease 37,801.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said via its Twitter handle that 15,677 out of the 37,801 have been treated and fully recovered and discharged while the country has recorded 805 deaths from the virus.

The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said that as at Tuesday, Africa has recorded 15,169 deaths. Also, the continent has recorded 721,563 confirmed infections while 383,195 have been treated and discharged.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, which tracks daily figures of the pandemic, more than 14.8 million people around the world have been diagnosed with Coronavirus, over 8.43 million have been treated and discharged while over 616,000 have died.

Out of this figures, the United States has over 3.9 million infections and over 144,000 deaths.

Out of the 576 new infections in Nigeria, Lagos State returns to leading the pack with 88 infections, Kwara reported 87, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded 82 cases, Plateau-62, Ondo-39, Enugu-28, Oyo-26, Taraba-24, Kaduna and Ebonyi tied at 20 fresh cases each, Edo-17, Cross River-16, Kano-14, Rivers-11, Ogun-10, Delta-9, Nasarawa-8, Osun-8, Katsina-3,Imo-2 Kebbi and Borno had one each.
