Nigeria records three COVID-19 deaths, 156 new infections Friday, total confirmed cases now 54,743

  • Total COVID-19 deaths now 1,051

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 156 new infections and three deaths related to Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 54,743 and deaths to 1,051 as of Friday.

The NCDC said via its official Twitter handle that 54,743 confirmed 417,398 sample tests in Nigeria.

In addition, the health agency said that 10,876 COVID-19 cases are active and still under treatment, 42,816 patients have been treated and discharged across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

NCDC noted that the 156 new infections were from 17 States with Lagos recording the highest number with 36, followed by FCT with 35 and Oyo with 29.

The data shows that Kaduna had 10, Abia – 9, Osun – 5, Ogun – 5, Enugu – 5, Rivers – 4, Nasarawa – 3, Ekiti – 3, Imo – 3, Edo – 2, Kwara – 2, Katsina – 2, Plateau – 2 and Niger – 1.
