Nigeria decries rejection of COVID-19 negative reports by foreign airlines, records 197 new infections, 5 more deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said that Nigeria recorded 197 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) along with five deaths on Thursday.

The health agency has also decried the rejection of COVID-19 negative results from some accredited private laboratories from passengers departing Nigeria by foreign airlines.

According to NCDC, “this should not be the case. We are working with other Ministries and Agencies through the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to address the challenges faced by travelers using the Nigeria International Travel Portal.

“We have also provided a document to answer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for travelers. The document is available on the NCDC website (www.covid19.ncdc.gov.ng) and will provide further information for travelers,” NCDC said.

The NCDC said via its official Twitter handle the new infections brings total confirmed cases 55,829 out of 433,206 sample tests across the 36 States of the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
