Nigeria conducts 443,987 COVID-19 sample tests, recording 90 new infections on Tuesday

Nigeria recorded 90 new Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection on Tuesday, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 56,478 out of 443,987 samples conducted since the first outbreak was reported on February 27, 2020.

On Monday, 132 new COVID-19 infections was reported with confirmed cases at 56,388.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said via its Twitter handle that as of Tuesday, 44,430 have been treated and discharged, 10,960 are active cases and under treatment.

The 90 new cases were reported from eight States – Lagos (33), Plateau (27), Kaduna (17), Ogun (6), FCT (4), Anambra (1), Ekiti (1), Nasarawa (1).

Altogether, Africa has recorded more than 1.3 million cases and 32,795 deaths out of 1,359,724 confirmed infections. According to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Africa has recorded 1,106,991 recoveries,

The Johns Hopkins University, which monitors the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 around the world, the global figure has exceeded 29.4 million while 931,454 people have died.

About 20 million people have recovered from the disease worldwide.
