The Nigerian government-outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Thursday reacted to the Federal Executive Council’s approval of over N654 million to monitor and possibly crash “illegal” radio frequencies in the Southeast regon of the country, saying that it will launch Radio Biafra in Daura, the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Calling the approval of the fund “wicked but futile,” IPOB said in a statement by its Spokesperson, Emma Powerful, that it is surprised that the federal government would map out “such a whopping amount of money for this unreasonable project despite its precarious economic state only confirms its jittery over the name IPOB. We thought they said we are miscreants? How come they are now losing sleep over miscreants?”
The group claimed that “the Nigerian government and its agents have spent more than this amount in the past and nothing came out of it. We are expecting them to approve more money for the fight because they must understand that they will try but cannot withstand IPOB. Such attempts in the past amounted to efforts in futility, and this time, they will fail again.”
It noted that to prove “how formidable we are,” it will, “within six weeks from now,” launch the Radio Biafra in Daura which would easily be available.
According to IPOB, “the Nigerian Government has failed in the past and it will quickly fail again in this fight.”
Saying that it is aware that the government would try and use people to fight it, the group stated that “we are miles ahead of them all. We are aware that government recruited, and pays some of them just to use them for odd jobs but they should not forget that eternal regret is the reward of treachery.”
