CDS, Service Chiefs arrive Maiduguri as Boko Haram terrorists kill 2 policemen, 1 other, along Maiduguri/Gubio highway

On a day the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs arrived Maiduguri, Borno State capital to meet with critical stakeholders, Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Sunday afternoon attacked and killed three persons at the checkpoint along Maiduguri/Gubio highway.

Sources said that the terrorists stormed a joint checkpoint between Chabol and Magumeri at about 12:30 noon, killing two policemen and one member of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

The source noted that the terrorists burnt one utility vehicle and made away with another, after displacing the security personnel stationed at the joint checkpoint.

On Sunday, Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Leo Irabor, arrived the headquarters of Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri along with Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo and Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao.

Sources said that the newly appointed military leaders are in Maiduguri to brainstorm on how to re-strategise approaches that will defeat Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorism and restore peace in the region.
