Okorocha arrested on orders of Governor Uzodinma, detained at Imo State CID headquarters

Former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, was on Sunday arrested and taken to Imo State Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Headquarters in Owerri on the orders of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

Senator Okorocha had forcefully gained entrance into the contentious Royal Spring Palm Hotel allegedly recovered and sealed by the State government.

The Senator had arrived the hotel also known as Akachi Estate and personally unsealed the place.

He insisted that there was no court order authorizing the State government to take over the massive property.

Following the unsealing, some aides of Governor Uzodinma arrived the place and an open confrontation ensued, which led to sporadic shooting.

The former Governor had on Sunday afternoon allegedly led armed thugs to break into the property of the State government, destroying security vehicles and other state government properties.

Sources said that many vehicles were vandalized while one of Okorocha’s men got shot.

Sources said that Senator Okorocha was arrested on the orders of the Imo state government for allegedly “personally leading the destruction and vandalism of security vehicles and breaking into the property of Imo State government.”

The State government has, however, said they had no hand in his arrest and that the Police picked him up for taking laws into his hands.
