Chief Okudoh says “we must change our ways or held responsible if PDP loses in the fort coming gubernatorial election”
There is a split in the members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Anambra State as a founder member of the party and BOT member, Chief Maxwell Okudoh, saying that he will no longer attend meetings held in the private residence of the former Secretary of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ben Obi, popularly known as Ojeligbo.
In a letter to Senator Obi and copied to the other BOT of the party from Anambra State; former Minister of ‘Women Affairs, Mrs Iyom Josephine Anenih; former Minister of Health, Professor ABC Nwosu and Senator Joy Emordi, Chief Okudoh said he will no longer attend meetings in Senator Obi’s residence because as the BOT being the conscience of the party, “we have failed in our duties as fathers and mothers to all and therefore derailed from conscience to conscienceless.”
Okudoh wondered that with the recent activities attributed to a member of the BOT from Anambra State, “l personally doubt if we’re working for the interest of the party or our personal interest.”
Stating that Anambra State members of the BOT “is accused of having been compromised in the forthcoming Guber (Governorship) primaries,” Chief Okudoh said: “I want us to clear our names before the primary. It’s also important that we stop parading ourselves as those that will choose the candidate for the Guber election because we don’t have such powers.
“Our role is advisory and not dictatorship/impunity. We must change our ways or should be held responsible if PDP loses in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State. It’s also noteworthy that H.E Peter Obi is the leader of the Party in the State and has right to call for meetings in conjunction with the State Chairman.”
Part of the letter to Senator Obi reads: On the 4th of January 2021, there was stakeholders meeting in Awka with the South East zonal executive including H.E Peter Obi and that seems to be the best attended meeting we’ve ever had in the state. H.E Peter Obi promised to fund the state tour for sensitization of our great party with all the materials required and till date, that tour was aborted by us and you know your role.
“On the 8/2/2021 , there was another SE (South East) zonal meeting in Enugu Lion Building where critical issues were discussed including zoning and resolution to hand over the leadership of SE to H.E Ugwuanyi. You accepted zoning affirm your position by inviting Hon Chris Azubogu as witness to support your claims based on zoning. This happened before the entire SE stakeholders. You also accepted the motion that H.E Ugwuanyi be our political leader in the South East.
“On the 18/02/2021, there was also a combined meeting of BOT and Saraki led Reconciliation and Strategy Committee in Legacy House where I met you reporting negative things about all that happened in Enugu including condemnation of the resolution on H.E Ugwuanyi’s leadership which H.E Ihedioha countered with real facts of what happened in Enugu. Hope you’ll remember your role on that day as you held the floor for over 10 minutes.
“On 02/03/2021, there was another crucial meeting in Lion Building Enugu which included the Aspirants but you never showed up at least to demonstrate your agitation/what you told Saraki committee in Abuja. That episode reminds me the role some of us played during past Guber elections in Anambra PDP.
“That also brought me to light that some elders in Anambra are the real problems of the party in the State where extortion and imposition becomes the order of the day.
“Finally, these are my reasons why I will not come to your house for any political meeting again until you clear yourself from the facts stated above.
“I suggest we have our meetings at the Legacy House or any other place that is not your house. Be also informed that further meetings and decisions in your house is not binding on me as I’ll go further to publicly disassociate myself from same.
“ANAMBRA BOT is accused of having been compromised in the forthcoming Guber primaries and I want us to clear our names before the primary. It’s also important that we stop parading ourselves as those that will choose the candidate for the Guber election because we don’t have such powers.
“Our role is advisory and not dictatorship/ impunity. We must change our ways or should be held responsible if PDP loses in the fort coming gubernatorial election in the State. It’s also noteworthy that H.E Peter Obi is the leader of the Party in the State & has right to call for meetings in conjunction with the State Chairman.”
