The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) new leader, Abu Mus’ab Al Barnawi, has continued to “cleanse” the top hierarchy of the terrorist organization as it executed senior commanders of the group.
Sources said that the senior ISWAP commanders executed on Thursday include Mustapha Kirimima, Baba Kaka Benishek, Musa Malumat and Abdullahi Khairiyah.
They were killed at Toumboun Kwalleram Lake Chad.
Kirimima was a #JAS while Benishek was Fiya Toumboum.
Sources said that Kirimima was alleged to have conspired to kill senior commander Da’awa, late Muhammad Nur Alkali alias Mamman Nur in 2018.
At the same time, Benishek was accused of corruption, misappropriation of funds and killing of Mujahideen foot soldiers.
An International Security and Terrorism Consultant, David Otto Endele, said ina tweet that “this cleansing by #Abu #Musab is part of the restructuring of #ISWAP ordered by #ISIS Core leader Amirul Mumineen.
“Some of the #JAS commanders captured may have exposed the role of the senior #ISWAP commanders especially the killing of #Mamman #Nur – a confidant of #AbuMusab.”
Last week, indications of continuing instability and chaos in the ISWAP terrorists’ group emerged as #Al #Barnawi suspended #Abu #Hafsa as #Wali for serious wrongdoings.
Al Barnawi, who is the son of the original founder of Boko Haram, Mohammed Yusuf, named himself #Caretake #Leader of #ISWAP pending a decision from #Amirul #Munineen #ISIS Core.
