Bandits attack Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, kill 2 Officers, kidnap one

Bandits have invaded the Afaka barracks of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna, Kaduna State.

Unconfirmed sources said that the bandits, who attacked the barracks of Nigeria’s premium training institution around 1am on Tuesday, killed a Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) officers while kidnapping a Nigerian Army officer.

The officers whose families may not have been formally informed of the death of their Next-of-Kin include a Navy Lieutenant and NAF Flight Lieutenant while the abducted Army officer is a Major.

The officer who sustained injured and is being treated in a hospital within the barracks is a Lieutenant.

A source said that some of the bandits, who may not have known the nature of the barracks they attacked, are still inside the academy.

Already, a security cordon has been enthroned in the area as security has been beefed up within and around the barracks to stop the bandits from escaping with the officers.

According to a source, “it was a terrible experience, the bandits took advantage of the time when most people had gone to bed to attack the barracks.”

“Right now, the whole barracks is under lock and key and security has been beefed up so that the bandits would not leave the barracks… it is believed that they are still within.”

The source said there are, however, fears that the bandits may decide to kill the officer in their custody in a bid to escape.

The Academy Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Jajira, did not respond to calls.
