Governor Lalong condemns terrorists killing of over 30 residents in Jos, Plateau State, 10 suspects arrested

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, on Wednesday condemned the killing of over 30 residents by terrorists in Yelwan Zangam community, Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria.

The North Central Terrorists had invaded the community around 9pm on Tuesday, burning houses and shooting anyone on sight.

They had earlier disabled the bridge leading to Naraguta community, preventing any access to help before launching the attacks.

Reacting to the incident in a Press Statement by Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor of Plateau State, Governor Lalong said he is saddened by yet another attack in Jos North LGA.

Governor Lalong, totally upset about the incident, immediately deployed security agents to the area and 10 suspects have been arrested.

He commiserated with the families of the victims, assuring them they will get justice

The Governor also warned that his administration was going to pursue, arrest, and prosecute the assailants.

There has been a surge in insecurity in Plateau in the last three weeks accompanied by killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling.

Two weeks ago, 27 travelers were killed in Gada-biyu – Rukuba road, still in Jos North LGA. Also, on Tuesday, Eons Intelligence reported that Eight persons, including a policeman and a vigilante were killed on Monday in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State

On August 18, gunmen launched an attack on Bassa LGA of Plateau, killing five residents and injuring several others.
