Some unidentified gunmen invaded the Kono-Boue and Gwara communities in Khana Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State, killing at least six persons.
The invasion forced the residents to flee their homes for fear of more attacks.
Sources said that the unknown gunmen killed three persons each in the two communities.
A source said that the rampaging gunmen invaded Gwara in the morning hours and shot three persons dead.
The gunmen invaded Kono-Boue later in the afternoon and shot three persons dead.
Public Relations Officer of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Kono-Boue, Nwibakpo Golden, confirmed that three persons were killed in his community, while some natives fled the community.
Mr. Golden urged the government to locate a Police Division in the community and rehabilitate the bad portions of the roads in the area, to effectively tackle the incessant attack by gunmen.
