Arm, defend yourselves, Christian Association of Nigeria youths tell Nigerians

In another vote of no confidence on the ability of the nation’s security agencies to secure them, the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has urged Nigerians to arm and defend themselves following the rising cases of insecurity in the country.

The National Chairman, YOWICAN, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, said on Sunday in Abuja that the crisis in Plateau State and some other parts of the country is enough to convince Nigerians that the nation’s security agencies are not on top of the situation.

He said the mass killing of Christians and Plateau State citizens especially last Wednesday by bandits in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State was condemnable.

“I condemn the gruesome killings of over 35 Plateau citizens, especially Christians, on 25th August 2021 in midnight attack where houses and churches were burnt including a primary school in Kunga of Zangam.

“This is not acceptable to Nigerians no matter the tribe, religion and ethnicity. Where are our leaders?

“The labours of our hero’s past are beginning to be in vain. Nigeria is sliding into anarchy where religion, ethnic and terrorism are spreading like wildfire.

“The scars of all these killings will never be erased in our minds. Today is plateau, another is Kaduna, Benue, etc.

“All this must stop. Nigerians should defend themselves against killers before we are all consumed. This is unacceptable and condemnable. Enough is enough.

“We must all live together as one indivisible nation. I call on the President, National and State Assemblies, security agencies and the State Governors to rise up and protect the people and stop playing politics with the lives of its citizens,” Enwere said.

While sympathising with families, government and people of Plateau State on the killings in different communities and LGA’s in the state, he also commiserated with the families of all those who lost their loved ones during the attacks.
