Crisis in IPOB: Nelly Ofoegbu sacked as “Asset Recovery Officer” and “expelled forthwith” from group

The spate of expulsions which has been fueling crisis in the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) continues with the announcement of the expulsion of one Mrs Nelly Ofoegbu, the group’s Asset Recovery Officer.

The expulsion was contained in a Memo signed by Chika Edoziem, Head of IPOB Directorate of State, which read in part: “The Directorate of State of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has deemed it pertinent to once again remind all the principal servants of IPOB that one of the fundamental guiding principles of this great movement is the principle of Command and Control, discipline and obedience to constituted authority are key part of this principle.

“Having constituted herself to insufferable nuisance to the IPOB family worldwide, and for continually engaging herself in acts that undermine the guiding principles, the fundamental objectives and structure of this great movement, Mrs Nelly Ofoegbu is hereby relieved of her responsibility as IPOB Asset Recovery Officer and expelled forthwith from IPOB.”

The statement by Edoziem noted that IPON has “no place for people with hidden motives and agendas. Anyone that desires to belong to IPOB family must adhere to IPOB rules and regulations. Every IPOB principal officer must disassociate himself/herself from and cease from further communication with the expelled individual. Ignore the directive at your own peril.”

Last December, IPOB expelled one of its principal officers, Mazi Solomon Egbo for involvement in actions detrimental to the group’s “fundamental objectives and conducts contrary to its Code of Conduct (CoC).”

Simon Ekpa was also recently expelled from the body for same unnamed offence.
