The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday morning said Nigeria recorded 35 Coronavirus deaths and 376 new infections on Saturday.
According to the data released by NCDC on Sunday, the new figures on Saturday brings the total confirmed cases to 209,173 while the death toll is now 2,804 in Nigeria.
Out of the total confirmed cases, 197,084 have been treated and discharged across the various isolation centres in the country’s 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The NCDC noted that Nigeria’s active cases is now 9,265 as at Saturday.
In addition, the public health agency further stated that 3,142,971 Nigerians have been tested of the virus, out of the country’s estimated 210 million population.
NCDC stated that the 376 new cases were reported from 14 States with Lagos leading with 215, Rivers (82), Ondo (16), Imo (14), Plateau (12), Kaduna (10), Kwara (9), Ekiti (4), Bauchi (3), Delta (3), Kano (3), Sokoto (3), Nasarawa (1), and Oyo (1).
The agency’s statistics shows that the 376 fresh cases reported on Saturday indicate an increase from the 167 cases in the country, reported on Friday.
It noted that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
The NCDC, however, advised Nigerians that home-based care was to be provided to COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms only at the advice of trained and designated health workers.
“Patients and caregivers should adhere strictly to the home based isolation criteria and other infection prevention and control measures.
