Security forces kill 10 terror bandits, destroy camp in Kwanan Bataru, Giwa LGA, Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria

Nigerian security forces have killed 10 bandits in Kwanan Bataru on the outskirts of Fatika in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, setting the camp where they used to keep their hostages on fire.

Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement on Monday that some of the sustained injuries during exchange of gunfire with security operatives.

According to Mr Aruwan, “one Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who is likely to have been kidnapped in a neighbouring State and was being held by bandits in the area, was rescued by the troops, and is being debriefed at the moment.”

He noted that some of the bandits who managed to escape the superior firepower of the nation’s security agents left behind several motorcycles, one revolver, mobile phones, torchlights and some charms.

Explaining that one of the sheds used by the bandits to hold hostages was burnt down, Aruwan stated that Governor Nasir El-Rufai has commended the security forces for taking out the notorious bandits and wishes the troops and personnel more success in the ongoing operations across the State.
