By Dr. Tanko Ahmed
A Personal Tribute to My Dear Friend, Colleague, Neighbour, and Brother who adorably called me ‘Yaya Tanko’ or ‘Elder Brother’
We fondly called him ‘His Excellency’ not only for being a one-time CBN Deputy Governor but for his intellectual prowess and excellent outturn.
Mailafia had his career-formative years at NIPSS as a Research Fellow in the company of intellectual giants like Osagie, Imobighe, Chime, and hordes of others.
We lived, worked, and built our families by the serene Lakeside Chalets of NIPSS, Kuru-Jos in the fashion of a ‘Modern Clan’.
We were very closed at personal, family, social cycles, and career ups and downs.
Mailafia was a speed thinker, an allegorist per excellence rocketed off orbit by a rough and dirty public opinion terrain.
The use of allegories or short moral stories to simplify complex situations is a unique and more advanced cognitive style than ready-made theories.
The ‘Non-Attribution Clause’ is in place at NIPSS to protect delivery methods, but not always the content of thoughts.
IF YOU KNOW – YOU KNOW!!!
Adios – Obed Mailafiya – The Great Mind – Who pierced through Lesser Minds like a Dagger Knife!
Rest in Peace ‘Kani Naa’
