Nigeria: Terror bandits abduct ’60 worshippers’ from church in Kakau Daji, Chikun Kaduna State

At least 60 worshippers were reportedly abducted when bandits raided Emmanuel Baptist Church located in Kakau Daji in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.

Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN), Kaduna State chapter, Reverend John Hayab, who confirmed the attack, said the terror gang stormed the church during the service on Sunday, shooting sporadically.

Reverend Hayab said it took time for the details of the attack to come out because there was no telecommunications network in the area, stating that based on the report of the villagers, he could only confirm the abduction of only 60 worshippers.

According to him, ”as at yesterday (Monday), I confirmed about 60 worshippers were missing‎ and it was actually one person that died. They had a song service that day. When the gunmen came, they went to the children church first but changed their minds and surrounded the church.”

He noted that when the worshippers saw them, they started running and the bandits opened fire and killed one person instantly.

Kaduna State Commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack and the killing of one worshipper but was silent on the number of the people abducted.

Aruwan gave the name of the person shot by the bandits as ‎Yusuf Dauda.
