- APGA’s Soludo won in 19 of Anambra State’s 21 LGAs, PDP and YPP won one LGA each
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo winner of the Governorship election held in Anambra State.
The Governorship election was held on Saturday with a supplementary poll held in Ihiala Local Government on Tuesday.
INEC Returning Officer for the election, Professor Florence Obi, who announced the results early Wednesday, in Awka, Anambra State capital, said Professor Soludo, having scored the highest number of votes and won more than two-third of the election in 21 LGAs, “is hereby declared winner.”
The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), who is APGA’s Governorship candidate, won 19 of the 21 Local Governments election results declared by INEC.
He polled 112,229 votes to lead Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who posted a distant 53,807 votes to emerge second, while Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 43,285 votes to emerge third.
Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), came fourth with 21,261 votes.
The APGA Governorship candidate, in winning 19 of the State’s 21 LGAs declared by INEC, lost in Ogbaru to PDP and Nnewi North to YPP.
Soludo got his highest votes in Awka South, polling 12,871 votes to defeat the PDP’s candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, who scored 5,498 and Andy Uba of the APC, who got 2,595 votes.
He also scored big in Anambra East where he polled 9,746 votes to defeat Uba, who posted 2,034 votes and Ozigbo, garnering 1,380 votes.
Soludo defeated Uba in his Aguata LGA, which is also the LGA areas of Ozigbo and Uba, polling 9,136 votes as against 4,773 posted by the APC candidate, while Ozigbo got 3,798 votes.
In Ihiala Local Government, Soludo polled 8,283 votes to defeat Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 2,485.
Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored 343 votes while Ifeanyi Ubah got 344 votes.
