Nnamdi Kanu: My Unsolicited Advice, By Dr Uche Diala

I sincerely hope Nnamdi Kanu understands the depth of the problem he is in; beyond all the noise, propaganda, half-truths and gerrymandering.

I hope he understands that to be on the inside is a whole different ball game, particularly in our Society where People (including those you trust the most) only pay lip service, all the while seeking to fleece you.

I hope he understands that many of the Folks hanging around him and making noise all over the Place are doing so for sundry reasons, almost all of which are not to his advantage or for his good.

Some see him as a Poster Boy who they have Photo ops with, some as a meal ticket, some to further their selfish, fledgling, non-existent or foundation-less political careers while some just see him as an object or tool to channel their own hate and bigotry through.

I equally see that his Lawyer probably still believes that this is an ideological case, a celebrity trial or a joke exemplified by his walking out on the Court today.

The earlier he understands the seriousness of the matter on his hands, the better for his Client.

If the Lawyer continues to progress like he is doing presently, it is going to be a very long ride and he will be doing his Client no good. Nigerians have a short staying power.

As this case drags as it is poised to, the currency of the case will wane, patience of even those being forced to sit at Home will wane; even as it adds no value to the case, the attention and presence of the Media will continue to thin out until a point when it will be only the Lawyer and probably his Client’s Family Members and very close Associates who would be attending Court sessions. I hope the Lawyer comprehends this.

By the way, this idea of tagging a white Lawyer along is really funny. I know it is part of the propaganda and showmanship, but the Lawyer needs to realize that this is not a joke and quickly too.

Nigeria is a Sovereign Nation and there are things that simply cannot happen. Not even in the United States that considers itself the bastion of Democracy and rule of Law.

A Lawyer who is not qualified (called to Bar in Nigeria) cannot represent an accused in a Nigerian Court. So what is the use of tagging the white Man along ? To impress who if not the gullible ?

Foreign Lawyers cannot represent Clients in Courts in Nigeria.

To have a right of audience in Court, the Lawyer must be qualified to practice in Nigeria as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court and must have paid the practicing fees.

A Foreign Lawyer can conduct litigation in Court for specific proceedings by applying to the Chief Justice of Nigeria who issues a warrant to permit that Person to practice as a Barrister for the purpose of the proceedings, if the Chief Justice believes it to be expedient.

The Foreign Lawyer must be entitled to practice as an Advocate in any Country where the system is similar to that of Nigeria (section 2(1), LPA).

Foreign Lawyers practicing in Nigeria must have been admitted to the Nigerian Bar. Without admission, a Foreign Lawyer cannot practice Law in Nigeria except to a limited extent where he/she obtains a warrant from the Chief Justice for the purposes of a specific proceeding or appeals arising from such proceedings.

Foreign Lawyers must pass the Nigerian bar examinations to practice Law in Nigeria.

Meanwhile this Oyibo Lawyer, Bruce Fein is the same US Lawyer that Atiku Abubakar procured and paid $30,000 for just 90 days plus expenses fully paid in the vain hope or promise of upturning Buhari’s victory in 2019 and becoming President.

People do not learn. Do they ?

Sincerely, I hope his Lawyer can realize that any reprieve for his Client might most likely come from outside of the Court than from the Court case and guide his conduct.

There are grave issues here with potentially grave consequences; no matter how some People seek to play them down or spin them.

I only hope Kanu has had time to deeply meditate; removed from all the noise and pyshofantic, hypocritical and ignorant praise singing and Hero worshipping and learnt some quick hard lessons about life. He needs that.

Otherwise, these Folks will only hail and fleece him into a long long time behind Bars.

I am just a meddlesome Interloper on this matter though.
