Nigeria recorded a six COVID-19 deaths and 537 new confirmed cases on Sunday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Monday morning.
This brings the total confirmed cases in Nigeria to 248,312 and the national death toll to 3,077.
According to the statistics from the NCDC, the total number of active cases is 26,238 while 218,997 cases have been treated and discharged since the first index case was announced in the country on February 27, 2020.
Altogether, a total of 3,863,081 have been citizens and residents of Nigeria have had their blood samples tested of the virus.
The NCDC noted that the figure of 537 new infections was recorded in eight of Nigeria’s 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with Rivers State bucking Lagos State to pick the unviable top spot with 313).
Lagos recorded 178, FCT – 19, Kaduna – 11, Gombe – 6, Ogun – 6, Ekiti – 3 and Abia -1.
The NCDC said that “a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.”
