Nigeria on Sunday recorded eight COVID-19 related deaths and 301 additional infections.
The eight deaths brought Nigeria’s death toll due to complications of the virus to 3,013 while total confirmed cases is now 250,929.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on its website on Monday morning that the new cases were recorded in 16 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
NCDC however stated that the eight fatalities were a backlog reported from Lagos, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria.
The health agency said 287 people were treated and discharged on Sunday after they recovered from the infection across the country.
It added that with the new confirmed cases, Nigeria has now recorded a total number of active cases to 23,774 while a total of 224,052 have been treated and discharged so far.
Altogether, a total of 3,933,209 persons have been tested of the virus in Nigeria.
The NCDC said that Lagos State reported 175, Ondo-42, Osun-23, Rivers-21, Nasarawa-16, Oyo-8, Gombe-7, Kaduna-7, FCT-1 and Kano-1.
It noted that the report included 175 additional cases reported from Lagos State for Jan. 1 to Jan. 15.
