The Nigerian Navy has denied reports that militant ‘Black Marine’ members of the armed wing of Biafra Nations League (BNL) killed its personnel in Oron Beach, Akwa Ibom State.
Media reports indicated that the killing took place in the afternoon of Monday January 31, 2022 when the bandits who were waving the Biafran flag on a speedboat were confronted by a Nigerian Navy patrol team.
But a source in the Nigerian Navy told Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) that “it is fake news. No personnel of the Navy was lost in any encounter with the so-called Biafran bandits. There is no truth to the story.
Also on Monday, some members of the BNL reportedly resisted arrest by the Police in Calabar, neighbouring Cross River State, after a march by the group at Marian Road as at 11:00 a.m.
According to the source, “the separatist group might be acting on the ultimatum giving to the Federal Government to release all Biafrans including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Benjamin Onwuka of Biafra Zionist Federation, and recognition of Biafra as a sovereign State.”
