Nigeria: Again, Terrorists Invade Allawa, Niger State, Kill Soldiers, Burn Down Military Camp

For the second time, terrorists have attacked the military camp in Allawa, Rafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, killing some soldiers and burning down their camp.

Also, scores of the terrorists were killed by the soldiers who fought gallantly to hold the ground.

But the details of actual casualties is still sketchy.

Sources said that the terrorists, numbering about 200, invaded Allawa town at about 10;00pm on Thursday and headed straight to the Military camp, engaging the soldiers in a fierce gun battle for several hours.

Some of the villagers were said to have caught in the crossfire between the soldiers and the terrorists as they escaped into nearby bushes, leaving the entire town deserted.

And in April last year, terrorists had invaded the same military camp in Allawa, killing five soldiers and a Police Inspector.

This led to the closure of the camp. But the authorities of the Armed Forces of Nigeria reopened the camp a month after, but more reinforcement of troops in the camp and additional area.

Thursday night invasion came barely one week after a similar attack against the Joint Security Task Force camp at Galadiman Kogo where 11 members of the Joint Security Task Force and an unspecified number of civilians were killed.

Houses, food barns, vehicles, and other properties worth millions of naira were burnt down by the gunmen.

In another development, another batch of terrorists said to be numbering about 300 and riding on about 100 motorcycles invaded Mariga town in Mariga LGA of Niger State and rustled over 300 cattle.

A source noted that though nobody was killed, the terrorists went away with almost all the cattle in the town, unchallenged.
