Gunmen have continued their rampage against security forces in Enugu State as they attacked and killed another team of four Policemen who were on stop-and-search duty at the outskirts of Enugu metropolis.
The killing of the four Policemen happened at about 3p.m. on Saturday, February 12, at Obeagu community along Amaechi-Ekeotu-Agbani Town Road and this left the road deserted till 7 p.m as motorists, commuters and cyclists avoided the route.
On Thursday, gunmen killed three Policemen at a checkpoint near Ulumalinda Estate by Maryland suburb of the Enugu South Local Government Area of the State.
The Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack but did not give the number of casualties.
Ndukwe said: “Police operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants.
“You will be updated with further development, please.”
Some of the tricycle operators plying the road, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that armed hoodlums came in a Sienna car and Lexus Jeep.
They opened fire on the unsuspecting policemen.
