Russia-Ukraine War: Displaced Nigerian Students Get Study Opportunities in Romanian Universities

The Romanian Ministry of Education has offered Nigerian students leaving Ukraine due to the war the opportunity to continue their studies in Romanian universities.

Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, said in a tweet on Sunday that the Romanian government was speaking with other countries such as Poland, Greece, and Hungary to follow suit.

The offer is coming as the Russian military continue their offensive in Ukraine following their invasion 10 days ago on the orders of President Vladimir Putin.

With the ongoing war inside Ukraine, people especially students have been scampering for their safety to neighbouring towns and countries.

But according to Ambassador Aduda in the tweet: “Romanian Min of Edu has offered to take in Nigerian students fleeing Ukraine to study in their universities. We are also in talks with Poland, Hungary and Greece to do same.

“We are discussing processes to seamlessly achieve this and have Nigerian students fixed up as soon as possible. Modalities will be announced shortly by the MFA!”
