The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has moved the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willy Obiano from Lagos to Abuja.
Though the EFCC has not been forthcoming on the scope and issues involved in the investigation of Obiano, its Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said: “Yes, the ex-Governor is now with our team in Abuja. It is too early to talk about ongoing investigation.”
Sources confirmed that Obiano was moved to Abuja because the desk handling his case in the last two years is at the EFCC’s headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
The former Governor was arrested on Thursday night at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos as he and wife, Ebelechukwu were on their way to to Houston, Texas, United States of America where they have a permanent home.
They left the Government House Awka venue of the inauguration and moved straight to the new Anambra State airport from where they flew to Lagos.
Obiano had earlier on Thursday handed over to Professor Chukwuma Soludo as Governor of Anambra State.
