Nigeria: Bandit Kidnappers Invade FCT Abuja Community, Abduct Shopkeeper, Steal Foodstuff

Bandit kidnappers have invaded Adagba community of Yaba Ward in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, abducting a 48-year-old shopkeeper, Chinedu Arinze, and carted away foodstuff from his shop.

A resident of Adagba, James Gwatana, said the incident happened on Monday around 8pm when Muslims were observing prayers.

He said the bandits, who came in their large numbers wielding weapons, invaded Arinze’s provision shop and whisked him away after taking assorted foodstuff amid sporadic shooting.

He further said the gunmen also went away with about 100 phones that were brought to the victim’s shop for charging.

The Vice Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Abubakar Abdullahi, who is a native of the community, confirmed the incident through telephone to our reporter.

Mr Abdullahi said, “I was in the village when the incident happened. Around 8pm, I started hearing gunshots, and sometime later I was told that one Arinze Chinedu who sells provision was kidnapped.”

The Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, did not pick calls and was yet to reply an SMS about the incident.
