Violence Continues In Anambra State As Gunmen Burn Down Idemili North LG Secretariat, Ogidi Magistrate Court

Violence and destruction of property continues in Anambra State as gunmen burnt down Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA) secretariat in Ogidi and a Magistrate Court in the area.

Sources confirmed that the gunmen who entered the premises on Sunday night to perpetuate the act, burnt down all files, properties in the secretariat, including the secretariat building.

Videos and pictures circulating online showed that the entire buildings were reduced to rubbles, while vehicles parked inside the Local Government secretariat were also burnt to ashes.

Last April, unidentified men, wielding automatic riffles burnt down Aguata LGA Secretariat at Ekwulobia, the home local government of Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

On March 31, 2022, a gang of armed men targeted and burnt down Nnewi South LGA in Anambra State.

The Anambra State Police Command, who confirmed the attack on Idemili North attack, attributing it to unidentified arsonists.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the Spokesperson of the State Police Command said: “Yes, the incident was confirmed, and our men were there to restore normalcy.

“Right now, the fire has been put off, and calm has been restored to the area.”
