With ever-increasing stress and environmental hazards packed with a global Covid-19 pandemic, it is inevitable to battle both recurrent diseases and of course, aging. But, people still look out for anti-aging solutions. If you add certain foods to your diet which are full of antioxidants, healthy fats, water, and essential nutrients, there is a high chance that your body would appreciate it and at least slow down the aging process.
This is any day a better solution than slathering your largest organ, the skin, with anti-aging creams, masks, and serums. Let’s not forget, they can do more harm than good.
Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee, in her recent Instagram video, shared how eating nutrient-dense fruits and veggies can actually fade away dull complexion and fine lines. She also shared a list of foods that one should include in the daily diet to get that glow as nothing keeps your cells young, vibrant, and disease-free like eating vibrant fruits and veggies.
“The plant kingdom is full of delicious polyphenol-rich anti-aging options to suit any palate. Each of these foods has lots of known and unknown antioxidants, which help and potentiate each other, thereby helping delay the aging process,” she captioned the post, adding how the mentioned foods have a major anti-aging impact on our overall health.
Anti-aging foods to help you stay fit and healthy
1. Cabbage
Like other cruciferous vegetables, cabbage is rich in Indole-3-carbinol, which helps to correct estrogen dominance and it has powerful anti-aging benefits. The vitamin A in the cabbage, added with vitamin D, prevents the skin cells from getting damaged and protects us from the harmful sun rays.
2. Carrots
They are a powerhouse against aging. Carrots help to lower cholesterol, cut cancer risk and boost immune functions. The beta-carotene in carrots, which gets its name from the vegetable, is converted into vitamin A by the body.
3. Grapes
This fruit contains powerful antioxidants that can fight free radical damage to the cells in your body. Resveratrol, which is derived from the skin of the grapes, gets rid of inflammation and is able to fight the effects of sun damage.
4. Onions
These help thin the blood, raise good cholesterol, and are rich in quercetin, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Just like garlic, onions have powerful anti-aging benefits.
5. Tomato
This vegetable is the richest source of lycopene, a remarkable antioxidant which helps protect brain health. Tomato also has powerful anti-cancer and anti-aging properties.
6. Spinach
The lutein in spinach has powerful anti-aging properties and is great for eye health. Spinach is rich in folic acid which is required for DNA repair, which in turn slows down the aging process.
So, no matter which diet you follow – vegan, vegetarian, non-vegetarian, high protein, etc, it is vital to eat vegetables for each and every meal in order to delay the aging process.
