Chris Azubogu Wins APGA Senatorial Primary election for Anambra South Zone

Member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Honourable Chris Emeka Azubogu has won the primaries for the Anambra South Senatorial election under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

With 116 votes, Azubogu defeated his closest rival, Dr Ben Nwankwo who polled 113. Emma Nwachukwu polled 75 while Akachukwu Nwankpo trailed with 44 votes.

From Umudim, Nnewi in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra State, Azubogu joined politics in 2011 as a member of APGA under which platform he contested to represent Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in 2011 and won.

While in the 7th Assembly, he held various positions including the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Capital Market and Institutions, Member House Committees on Power, Aids, Loans and Debt Management, ICT, Interior and Agriculture.

In 2015, he earned him a ticket in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) where he contested and won another term in the House of Representatives.

He served as the Deputy Chairman; House Committee on Appropriation and also a member of the Committees on Science and Technology, Industries, Commerce, Telecommunication, Urban Development and Regional Planning, IDPs, and Human Right.

In the 2019 general election, he won overwhelmingly to represent his constituency for the third time 2019-2023.

He is now serving as member House Committee on Appropriation and Deputy Chairman House Committee on Aids, Loans & Debt Management amongst other Committees.

He has demonstrated great energy, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and skill in service to his constituency and Nigeria as a whole.

To attest  to this, he has worked assiduously to the actualization of a lot of projects that has major impact to  his constituency, chief amongst them being the ‘Nnewi Automotive Industrial Park (NAIP),’ ‘Nnewi  Independent Power Plant’ and the reactivation of the Nnewi Federal Housing Scheme (Social  Housing) that has been abandoned since 1983.
