Manchester United ‘Eye A Shock Move For Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’ With A ‘Knockdown £10 Million Raid’ On Bitter Rivals Liverpool

Manchester United are reportedly considering approaching Liverpool in an attempt to sign want-away Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is said to be desperate to leave Anfield, having started just nine Premier League games last season.

The Englishman has one year remaining on his deal and talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook claims the Red Devils would be ‘seriously interested’ acquiring him if their rivals are willing to accept a cut-price £10m deal.

It is no secret that bolstering the midfield is the priority for new manager Erik ten Hag.

That area of the pitch was already a weakness and the departures of Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Jesse Lingard have only added to that.

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is their top target but it is clear that a number of midfield reinforcements are needed this summer.

28-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain is also admired by old club Southampton but the south coast side have concerns over his injury records and wage demands.

He was linked with United back in 2011 but ultimately joined Arsenal, where he spent seven years before making the switch to the Reds.
