Jebba Diocese Anglican Bishop, Wife Kidnapped In Oyo State, Abductors Demand N50 Million Ransom

Family members and worshippers are reportedly in contact with terrorists to secure the release of Anglican Communion Bishop of Jebba Diocese, Right Reverend Oluwaseun Aderogba and his wife who were abducted on Sunday evening.

Sources confirmed that the cleric and his wife were abducted along Ogbomoso-Oyo Road.

The Bishop’s Chaplain who was with the victims narrated the incident to the New Telegraph moments after he escaped from the ambush.

He disclosed that they were travelling from Jebba to Oyo when their vehicle developed a fault a few kilometres away from the ancient city.

“My Lord bishop called the Lord bishop of Oyo Bishop Aladekugbe for help.

“However, before help could come, some armed men surrounded and ordered them into the bush. I was lucky. They didn’t see me because of my black cassock.

“I fell flat on my belly to hide myself while they marched my bishop and wife deep into the forest,” the chaplain told reporters.

Bishop Aladekugbe upon receiving the report of the development reportedly alerted the leadership of the church, Most Revd Henry Ndukuba and other members of the house of bishops.

Hours after, the terrorists reportedly communicated with the church through the wife of the bishop, who was allowed to speak for a few seconds.

They demanded N50m ransom before they would release the duo.

Negotiations are still ongoing for their release.
