Thirty-eight Nigerians deported from the United Kingdom (UK) have arrived in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos, according to authorities in Nigeria.
Among the deportees back to Nigeria include mothers and grandmothers and some members of LGBTQ+ communities seeking asylum.
Some of the deportees claimed they have lived in the United Kingdom for many years.
They arrived at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos early Thursday morning with a UK Home Office charter flight.
However, the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BBC that the deportation was based on Immigration-related offenses.
