Corruption Has Gone Gaga Under Buhari, Says Veteran Nollywood Actor, Chiwetalu Agu

Popular Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu has lamented that corruption has gone gaga under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Agu, Buhari said that he would come and fight corruption to the finish and to put corruption in a very dire situation.

“But when he came, money began to exchange hands. Everything has gone gaga. Integrity no longer counts. I have lost hope in the regime. As a matter fact, what Buhari is doing is not leadership; it is ‘rulership’” he said.

The actor also gave reasons why many Nollywood stars are endorsing politicians in the building up to the 2023 general elections.

Agu said many of such actors and actresses have been induced with money by the politicians which was why they are endorsing them.

He said he is not in that category of those endorsing politicians for money.

Agu stated that endorsement depended on personal interest as politics was no longer the profession of sanitised citizens.

According to him, these days, a lot of things had to do with money, as it could sway people, lamenting that people are not patient again.

“What they count is what money does for them today, not tomorrow. Nobody is patient because things are hard. Integrity, morality and conscience have disappeared. What we are doing in Nigeria today puts me off,” Agu said in an interview with The Punch.
