There is furore over the designer wristwatch, a Jacob & Co. Astronomia Sky White Diamond 18-piece Limited valued at $785,496 (N455,587,680 at N580 per dollar) worn by Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, during his Monday’s trip to Daura, Katsina State for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Uzodinma was one of the nine Governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC (APC) received by President Buhari at his country home in Daura.
Nigerians having knowing the worth of the wristwatch questioned politicians affinity for costly things in detriment to the masses. However, some defended the governor, saying that he is a billionaire before being a governor.
Samaila Simon said; “All of them are the same, wolves in sheep clothing milking nigeria to stupor, am yet to see a politician whose heart is tilted toward selfless service than flamboyant enriching himself later it will be said that only jolly Nyame and Dariye embezzled money, it will shock you how some governor’s destroyed their states to blatant impoverishment.”
Chinoso James wrote; “It shall never be well with justice tanko and others. This is tax payers moneys.”
Cletus Nkwubile said; “This is their way. Always after themselves and selected few while the rest keep suffering and voting for them. Useless party.”
Munachim Nwakobi said; “Hope has been a billionaire before he ventured into politics though his sources wealth still remains unknown.”
Humphery Alex said; “We know these politicians are terribly corrupt, but Hope Uzodinma has been a very rich guy before going into party politics. Those who know him can attest to this. He can afford that wrist watch on his own. Don’t be surprised he bought that watch before becoming Imo governor.”
The Governors who paid a Sallah homage visit were led by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State.
Others who made the trip included Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi; Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari; Plateau State Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong; Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai; Nasarawa State Governor, Engr.
