Insecurity: National Security Adviser Has Failed Nigeria, Should Resign – APC Senator, Sani Musa

The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sani Musa, on Monday called for the resignation of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), saying he has failed in the discharge of his duties to Nigeria.

Senator Sani, a former aspirant for the chairmanship of All Progressives Congress (APC), said the Emir of Kagara, Ahmad Garba-Gunna, recently told him that the people of the State were in a dire situation and needed to be rescued.

Musa, who spoke during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, lamenting the situation in his native Niger State that has become one of the major epicentres of terrorism and banditry,

Stating that about 500 terrorists and bandits were seen recently moving toward some villages in the State, Senator Musa said: “If you go to Niger State today, you will see that a lot of IDPs are there. People have left their villages because these people have taken over these villages. They are real. The Emir of Kagara came to me on Thursday here in Abuja and said we need to be rescued.

“We had information over 500 of these bandits have been seen travelling from toward our area. What do we do about it? And I asked him: have you shared this information to all those that are concerned to hear? They did. My own assignment as a Senator is to make the noise; to make things work and I believe we are doing it. So what I think we need to do is to go back to the drawing board. It is not too late.”

Arguing that General Monguno has failed and should therefore resign, the Senator said: “What proactive action has the NSA done? We have to call a spade a spade. If I am the NSA, the National Security Adviser, in this country I will tender my resignation because I have failed.

“You do not wait until when you are attacked, then you act. This intelligence being shared is an information, free information given to you at a stage where the culprits had not concluded their plans and you neutralize them. Is this what is happening? So for me we need to strategized. We need to look at our demographics.”
