Controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh has announced she is quitting Nollywood for good and will not be returning to acting after her foray into politics.
Dikeh is the Deputy Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State in the 2023 election.
She said during an interview with BBC Pidgin that she has quit the entertainment industry completely and that she would only support the industry if her party wins the governorship election in Rivers.
Dikeh admitted that she had been controversial all along, but blamed the media for it due to their reports.
She said she had often been misjudged and that the media had always reported the bad things about her while leaving the good things.
The actress said this is her time, saying that people had different segment of their lives.
She said people had always seen her as her an entertainer on social media, but said she had been in politics for quite a while.
“I have been doing politics through the organisation I have been working for, for the Federal Government, the Committee of Youth Sensitization and Mobilization.
“The office works directly with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Policies and Decision making.
“It is not my fault to say I did not start to play politics from State level. I started from federal level. I will not take it for granted,” she said.
Dikeh also said she would like to remarry someday, but to the right person.
