At least four people have been killed and several houses burnt in separate attacks on two communites in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, Northcentral Nigeria.
Sources confirmed that the killings and burning of houses were carried out when bandits invaded the villagers between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
“Two women were killed behind Yogbo primary school and another one also within the community yesterday (Friday). Sadly, that is the village where the chairman of the (Guma) Local Government comes from.
“Today (Saturday), the attackers killed one person at Ukohol. They also burnt many houses in several villages that was attacked in the area,” a villager narrated. Other villagers also narrated that residents had fled the affected places for fear of further attacks.
Chairman of Guma LGA, Mike Ubah, who confirmed the incidents via a text message, said:.“Four people were killed. Three of them at Yogboh while the remaining one was killed at Ukohor within the said period.”
Meanwhile, Benue State Police Spokesperson, Catherine Anene, did not respond to calls or text messages sent to her mobile on the incident.
