2023 Presidency: Wike, Ortom, Ugwuanyi, Other Governors Meet In Enugu Over Peter Obi

Ahead of the February 2023 Presidential elections, five Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday met in Enugu, capital of Enugu State.

Sources confirmed that the discussion of the meeting centred on how to deliver the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi in 2023.

The Governors are: Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikeazu (Abia) and the host Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The source stated that the five Governors were moved to back Peter Obi’s candidacy because they are not comfortable with the PDP flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

The decision of the Governors may not be unconnected to the crisis rocking the main opposition party.

The crisis, which was birthed by the face-off between Wike and the former Vice President, had degenerated despite efforts by party stakeholders to quell the cold war.
