PDP G-5/Integrity Group: Ex-Governor Dankwambo Jumps Ship,Pledges Support, Loyalty To Atiku/Okowa, Donates 20 Vehicles To Campaign

The ranks of the G-5 Governors/Integrity Group of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, may have cracked as some of the members led by the former Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Hasan Dankwambo have left the group.

They have therefore pledged their allegiance, loyalty and support to the presidential candidate of party, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Ifeanyichukwu Arthur Okowa.

Dankwambo, who was visible during the Presidential campaign of the party held in Gombe on Monday, expressed his readiness to work for the success of the party at all levels during the 2023 General elections.

He also announced the donation of 20 campaign branded vehicles to be used for the campaigns of the party and its candidates in Gombe State.

Meanwhile, the Presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar speaking during the campaign, promised to rejuvenate the virtues of Nigeria’s former and only Prime Minister, Late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Atiku Abubakar said that he will do just that by bringing physical development to the people of the North-East in particular and Nigeria as a whole if voted in next year’s elections as the next President.

He said that, “voting me in next year’s election is the same thing as bringing back the virtues of the revered nationalist because I will leave no stone unturned to bring back the lost glory of a prosperous Nigeria which was devoid of terrorism, hunger, disunity and all the negatives that have currently bedeviled the country”.

The candidate further told the people of Gombe State that as someone who is familiar with the problems of the State, he will empower businessmen to thrive as well as engage youths and women with gainful employment.

According to him, “the PDP Government which started the Dadin Kowa Dam project will resuscitate the hydro-electric power and irrigation components of the project for maximum benefit of the region and Nigeria as a whole” .

He said that Gombe State, which is in the centre of the North-East subregion and known for its commercial activities cannot be easily accessed from all the States in the subregion because of bad roads.

He therefore promised to resuscitate all the roads linking it with the other States in the subregion and Nigeria as a whole.

The former Vice President stressed however that peace, security and unity of Nigeria will be his number one priority because that is the immediate needs of Nigerians at the moment.

Earlier, the Director General of the PDP Presidential campaign council, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State assured that PDP and its Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will never deceive Nigerians with their campaign promises.

He assured that if voted into power in next year’s election, the party will fulfill all the promises it is making to Nigerians during the campaigns.

Aminu Tambuwal also said that the party is ready to bring back the booming economy, the peace, security and prosperity the country was known for in the past.

In his remarks, embattled National Chairman of the PDP,  Iyorcha Ayu, thanked the people of Gombe State for always supporting and standing by the party promising not to fail them if given the opportunity to rule the country again.
