A popular Northern, Tik Tok star Murja Ibrahim Kunya, has again been remanded in a correctional facility on the orders of an Upper Shari’a Court sitting at Filin Hockey in Kano.
Ms Murja has been in prison custody for more than two weeks on charges that border on defamation of character, vulgarity, public nuisance and breach of public peace.
The court also remanded three other skit makers: Aminu Ibrahim (aka BBC); Ashiru Idris (aka Maiwushirya) and Sadiq Sharif, alongside Murja who were arraigned as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants respectively.
When the charges were read against the 1st and 2nd defendants, the charges bordering on indecent acts on TikTok, and composing obscene lyrics with a motive of propagating fornication; they pleaded guilty to the charges while the 3rd and 4th accused pleaded not guilty.
The prosecution counsel, Lamido Sorondinki, told the court that the actions of the defendants were capable of polluting the morale of the younger generation of Kano State, hence contrary to sections 365 and 358 of the Kano State Shari’a penal code.
Sorondinki then prayed the court to adjourn the matter till March 15 to allow him tender exhibits against the 3rd and 4th defendants.
However, lawyers of 3rd and 4th defendants objected to the application.
The judge, Abdullahi Halliru, then adjourned the matter till February 23 for the hearing of the bail application and tendering of exhibits.
He, therefore, ordered the remand of all the accused persons in prison.
