Gombe State Police Commissioner, Oqua Etim, has warned his personnel to keep all their relationships highly professional and must not allow themselves to be used by any politician as the 2023 general elections get to the peak with Presidential and National Assembly elections coming up this Saturday.
Oqua Etim stressed that, “You are to provide security on the election day not to tell people who to vote. Do not allow yourselves to be distracted either by food or phone, stay focused and vigilant.”
The CP was addressing Officers and men of Command at the Kaltungo, Billiri and Akko Area commands in continuation of his familiarization tour to hold an interactive session with the personnel on how to serve humanity better by providing adequate security especially now that tensions are high because of the general Elections.
He urged the Officers and men to take good care of themselves, taking out time to rest and exercise their bodies to keep fit.
He however warned against self-medication, encouraging them to always seek medical attention whenever they feel sick to ascertain the root cause of the problem and be treated appropriately.
Oqua Etim promised to continues to sensitize and provide adequate guidance to his personnel, urging them to be on their best behaviour while on election duties.
On the issue of personnel arrears, the CP urged them to exercise more patience, assuring them that the Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba is doing his best to address the issue but the process is delayed because of the current issue of the newly redesigned Naira notes.
Oqua Etim further commended the Area Commander of Kaltungo, ACP Musa Jibir and his DPOs; the Area commander, Billiri, ACP Ibrahim Musa Sumaila, CSP Ahmed Umar Sanda, DPO Billiri Division, the Area Commander Metro ACP Abubakar Umar and DPO Akko Division, CSP Chama M. Yakubu for safeguarding their communities to the best of their abilities urging them to do more.
On the request of the Area commands tabled before him, the CP addressed all, leaving each Area Commander with smiles on their faces as contained in a statement by ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, Police Public Relations officer.
