A total of 17 people have been killed in two different road traffic crashes that occurred in two different locations in Bauchi State.
According to report from RS12.11… Azare – Gamawa Station Office of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Bauchi State Command, one of the crashes occurred on Monday, 13/03/2023 at 1030hrs, reported at 1038hrs while the FRSC personnel arrived at 1047hrs making a response time of 9 minutes.
The crash occurred on the Zaki Gamawa route, name of the location is Manaba Village involving 25 people.
Eleven people comprising 2 Male Adults and 9 Male Female Adults were killed in the crash while 13 people made up of 3 Male Adults and 10 Female Adults were variously injured.
The lone crash involved a white Toyota Hummer bus with registration number, KTG 13XF used for commercial purposes driven by one Haruna Yusuf in the fleet of Himma Express.
The probable cause of the crash, according to the FRSC, was Overloading /Speeding /Tyre burst leading to lost of control while the road condition is believed to be good.
The type of injuries to the victims were bruises while the obstruction on the road at the scene has been cleared.
The action taken was that the victims were taken to General Hospital, Gamawa by JTF comprising Police, Army, Immigration, Civil Defence Corps on patrol in Bursali Ward of Zaki LGA while the Rescue Team was led DRC A I Mohammed.
The second crash claimed the lives of 6 people as well as various degrees of injuries to another 4.
According to a RTC Report from RS12.12, Shira Station Office in Shira LGA of the State signed by DRC, TB Lawal, STO, Shira, the crash occurred on Monday, 13/03/2023 at 1721hrs, reported time was 1725hrs while arrival time of FRSC personnel was 1733hrs making a response time of 8 minutes.
According to the report, the crash occurred on the Yana – Giade Road with exact location to be 10KM from Yana Town, headquarters of Shira LGA.
The fatal crash involved 2 Vehicles, a commercial volkswagen Golf 2 and Sharon mini bus with registration number; SHR 203 AA and Party Vehicle with no registration number, one of the vehicles was driven by Alh. Bappha Adamu Nassarawa.
According to FRSC, the probable cause of the RTC, was over-speeding killing 6 people comprising 4 Male Adults and & 2 Female Adults leaving 4 Male Adults seriously injured as a total of 10 Adults.
The action taken was that the victims were rescued by the Police and taken to the The General Hospital for medication and death confirmation.
