The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Abdulsami Ibrahim has charged young officers of the Nigerian Army to continuously train and acquire modern military skills to deal with any emerging threat to national security. He gave the charge yesterday during the decoration ceremony of newly promoted young officers at the Rhino Officers Mess, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
The GOC/Comd OPSH urged the newly decorated officers to take good advantage of the numerous platforms recently employed by the Army leadership to train its personnel to improve themselves and build their career in the Nigerian Army. He noted that training remains the bedrock of military profession and officers especially, the young officer must continuously train towards defeating the enemies of the state.
While congratulating the newly promoted officers, General Abdulsalami noted, that it is a command responsibility to ensure the discipline, welfare and career progression of troops. He therefore urged Commanders to assist their officers as they prepare for their promotion exams adding that this will qualify them for future promotions. The GOC further urged family members and friends to always support the young officers to grow in their chosen career.
Also speaking at the event, the President Mess Committee, Brigadier General Micheal Agi urged the newly promoted officers to learn from their superiors and ensure professional discharge of their duties.
Highlight of the event were the decoration of the officers with their new badges of ranks, group photograph and advice to the young officers by their superiors. The event was attended by Principal staff officers at Headquarters 3 Division, Commanders and Commanding officers, family members and friends.
