In acknowledgment of the disastrous outcome of the counteroffensive against Russia, Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has fired all of his regional recruit chiefs in a wave of brutal sackings.
Many analysts have acknowledged that Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia appears to have completely faltered.
Reuters said that the sackings was effected Friday afternoon.
In a tweet, the War Monitor account wrote: “#BREAKING Ukraine’s Zelenskiy says all regional chiefs of Ukraine’s military recruitment offices have been fired.”
The sackings come after Mr Zelensky claimed there had been issues surrounding corruption.
In a statement on Telegram, the Ukrainian leader said: “This system should be run by people who know exactly what war is and why cynicism and bribery during war is treason.”
Handling the fallout from the ousted officials would be Valery Zaluzhny, now responsible for implementing Mr Zelensky’s decision, and finding new candidates for the posts.
These would first be vetted by Ukraine’s domestic security service, it was added.
It comes as Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russia was criticised as the nation’s war with Moscow nears its 19-month anniversary.
Just before the sackings emerged, Ukraine urged civilians within the Northeastern frontline to evacuate with Russia ramping up its assault to capture territory it had previously seized during the conflict.
