Bandits Return, Kidnap 20-year-old Nursing Mother, Child, 5 Others In Bauchi Villages

  • As Member representing Toro Federal Constituency calls for urgent intervention by security agencies 

Bandits have returned in different areas of Ningi and Toro Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Bauchi State, kidnapping six persons including a 20 year old nursing mother and her baby. 

The bandits reappeared to terrorize residents of Ningi LGA 16 days after a swoop on them by the Bauchi State Police Command. This time, they invaded and attacked three communities in the area within three days, abducting four persons in the process.

A source confirmed that on Thursday night, 17/08/2023, the terrorists attacked Sanger settlement in Kwangoro village and abducted one person. They later called to ask for ransom. 

Similarly, on Saturday night, the  gunmen invaded Billiri Gorore Village in Lumbu Community, kidnapping two people Alhajis Chibi and Siba of the same address.

It was gathered that the bandits, in another different operation, attacked Yadagungume town on Saturday night and abducted a 20-year-old nursing mother who the wife of one of the businessmen based in the town. The man narrowly escaped from the attack.

A security source confirmed that the incidence occurred at about 1:00am when the gunmen forcefully entered the house of one Alhaji Abdussalam Jibrin Yaudo in Yadagungume and kidnapped his nursing mother wife, Adama Abdussalam, and her child.

When contacted on the new development, Caretaker Chairman of Ningi LGA, Ibrahim Zubairu, confirmed the incidents, saying that on receiving the report, he immediately mobilized the security personnel to the affected communities.

He said that the Local Government authorities is doing its “best unrelentingly” in putting efforts towards arresting the insecurity issues bedeviling the peace and tranquility of the area.

The Council boss said that they have recorded great success in the fight against insecurity whereby before the recent attacks, communities within the LGA lived in harmony for 16 days without any report of kidnapping activities.

Stating that the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has ensured that the lives and property of the common man are fully protected, Ibrahim Zubairu assured that his Council will not rest on its oars in safeguarding lives and properties of the citizens by collaborating with all security agencies. 

Also, on Saturday armed bandits suspected to be kidnappers, stormed Gumau community in Toro LGA of Bauchi State and kidnapped Alhaji Babangida (Dan Rimin Wunti) and Alhaji Saleh Jange, both residents of the area. 

The bandits were said to have stormed the town in the wee hours, shooting sporadically to scare people away which enabled them to perpetrate their heinous crime. 

A resident of the area revealed that after a time of respite, the bandits have resurfaced terrorizing the communities through incessant kidnapping for ransom a development he said has devastated the people of the area. 

Reacting to the development, the Member Representing Toro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Dabo Ismail Haruna  condemned the recent kidnappings in Gumau, Bargan Fulani, Salarma and Fishere Communities of Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

He  sympathized with the victims and prayed for their safe returns while assuring the Constituents of quick legislative interventions that will bring an end to this unfortunate incidents.

The Federal Lawmaker stressed that the spate  of kidnappings in Toro Federal Constituency calls for great concerns considering the ecent times kidnapping by the bandits. 

This sad development is coming few days after similar incidents at Bargan Fulani where a woman was slaughtered and another man killed at Fishere Communities.

He called for Stakeholders and traditional rulers engagements with the Security agencies amidst the challenges Confronting Toro Federal Constituency. 

Dabo Haruna promised to work closely with the Security agencies by supporting legislations that will ensure the Protection of lives and properties of the affected Communities and Toro Federal Constituency at large.

He called on the State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and the Federal Government to urgently order the deployment of more Security agencies in Toro Local Government Area to fish out these criminals. 

Recall that the State Police Command in collaboration with sister security agencies and quasi security personnel stormed the Burra and Yadagungume forests during which they neutralized a number of the bandits, arrested some of them and rescued some of the kidnap victims. 

As of the time of filling this report, the State Police Command has not responded to enquiries made about the development as the PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili neither picked up the phone nor responded to the sms and whatsapp messages sent to his mobile number.
