The Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Major General Benjamin Olufemi Sawyerr honoured Nigerian Female Air Force (NAF) Officer Squadron Leader Isetekelepirima Juliet Gogo-Akinrogunde who recently completed her tour of duty at the multi-national peace keeping mission.
General Sawyerr said that Sqn Ldr Gogo, who was deployed as the Leave/Welfare Officer of the Mission, “served meritoriously for one year.”
UNISFA comprises of troops and civilian staff from eight different countries including Bangladesh, China, Ghana, India, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Vietnam.
Extolling her contribution to the Mission, General Sawyerr stated that “Sqn Ldr Gogo performed her assigned tasks creditably well by ensuring troops leave and welfare matters were professionally handled.”
The UNISFA Acting Head of Mission and Force Commander noted further that “Gogo worked tirelessly to ensure all visitors to the remotely located mission were well received,” stating that “Gogo brought to bear the professional and organizational acumen of a Nigerian Military Officer and did the Nigerian Air Force and Nigeria very proud.”
Sqn Ldr Gogo was presented with the UNISFA plaque and Gold Coin for Peace in recognition of her Service to UNISFA and peace in the Abyei Box.
