Nigeria and the United Kingdom (UK) is partnering to checkmate security threats arising from the aviation sector and the abuse arising from the reckless use of drones by individuals and other non-State actors.
Towards this, Nigeria’s National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), in conjunction with the UK government, is brainstorming on the best practices of addressing security threats to domestic and international aviation and curb reckless use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
Already, a three-day dialogue tagged ‘Joint Threats and Counter Drones Workshop’ is discussing the modalities for countering the threats especially those posed to aviation by drones.
It is being organised under the Nigeria-United Kingdom Security and Defence Partnership Dialogue.
National Coordinator, NCTC, Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa (rtd), noted: “It is a fact that no single agency or country can achieve meaningful success in the fight against terrorism alone; hence, we must all collaboratively work towards progress, since the fight against terrorism stresses the need for inter-agency collaboration and cross-border relationships.”
